Chiikawa is still very popular in Japan, and now fans around the world can enjoy a little more of its adorable world in English!
I recently came across the official English trailer for the Chiikawa anime. Hearing Chiikawa and Hachiware speak English feels surprisingly fresh. They are the same lovable characters, but their voices sound different from the Japanese version.

Chiikawa's English Dub Sounds So Different!
One of the fun things about watching an anime in another language is discovering how familiar characters sound in a new setting.
Even if you don't understand Japanese, Chiikawa is an anime you can enjoy through its characters' expressions, movements, and adorable reactions. That's why I'm curious to see the full English dub!
The official English-language YouTube channel also shared short videos counting down to the release. The trailer and these promotional Shorts can be watched from Japan, too.
Unfortunately, the official channel's description says that the English-language episodes are not available in Japan. I'd love to watch the full English version someday and compare it with the Japanese original.

Chiikawa Is Still Loved in Japan
Chiikawa remains a familiar and popular character in Japan. Its appeal goes beyond its cute appearance: the characters work, eat their favorite snacks, spend time with friends, and sometimes face surprisingly difficult situations.
That combination of cuteness, friendship, and everyday struggles is part of what makes the series so charming.
It's exciting to see Japanese characters reaching audiences overseas, especially when fans can discover different versions of the same story.
Meet Funyamaru, My Own Little Character!
Speaking of cute characters, I'd also like to introduce one of my own creations: Funyamaru (ふにゃまる).
At first glance, Funyamaru might remind you of Chiikawa. Funyamaru has a simple, white, rounded shape that gives the character a soft and cuddly appearance.
But here's a little secret: Funyamaru is actually a baby three-toed sloth!
That's right! Behind that simple white silhouette is a tiny sloth character.
I think it's fun when a character looks simple and mysterious at first, but has its own identity and background. Funyamaru may look like a little white blob, but there's a sleepy sloth hiding in there!
While Chiikawa is a beloved character created by Nagano, Funyamaru is my own original character. I enjoy creating illustrations and sharing little pieces of everyday life through my artwork.
Cute Characters Bring People Together
Whether it's Chiikawa's adventures or Funyamaru's sleepy little world, I love how simple, cute characters can make people smile.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of Chiikawa in English, and I hope more people around the world will discover Japanese character culture.
And if you enjoy cute animal characters, keep an eye out for Funyamaru, too!
Which do you enjoy more: watching anime in its original language or trying an English dub?
